Sam Worthington admitted in an interview that he showed up to the set of Wrath of the Titans completely out of shape to play a Greek demi-god, confessing that he should have communicated this to the director instead of surprising the crew on day one. On the other hand, Peter Jackson reflected at the Cannes Film Festival not too long ago on infamously replacing Ryan Gosling in his 2009 fantasy movie because the actor showed up on set, like Worthington, having gained weight without informing the production. Gosling was replaced by Mark Wahlberg, and he later told the story in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "We had a different idea of how the character should look. I really believed he should be 210 pounds... I just showed up on set, and I had gotten it wrong. Then I was fat and unemployed," he said.

The movie in question ended up being a disappointment; it underperformed at the box office and received poor reviews. Criticism was aimed, in particular, at Jackson's direction of the material. The movie was based on a book by Alice Sebold, and it's currently streaming in the United States on Peacock, but only for a little while longer. It also featured four-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan in the lead role, along with a supporting cast that included Rachel Weisz, Stanley Tucci, and Susan Sarandon.
