Privacy policy

This policy explains how factioz processes information on factioz.com and in the Factioz mobile applications. It applies to readers, registered authors and people who contact the newsroom.
Information you provide
When you create an account we store your name, email address, public handle, password hash, consent date and optional profile details. We also store content you choose to publish or upload, including publications, Live Feed messages, comments, profile media and reports. Contact messages and newsletter requests contain the information you enter in those forms. Passwords are processed only as one-way hashes and are never visible to newsroom staff.
App and device information
The mobile app stores a revocable sign-in token in the device secure storage and keeps drafts, downloaded stories, appearance preferences and a random analytics reader identifier locally. If you enable push notifications, we store an Expo push token tied to your account and device session. We do not request precise location, contacts, microphone access or advertising identifiers.
Reading analytics
Factioz records publication views, reading progress, active reading time, device class and limited request metadata needed for security and aggregate author analytics. A random reader identifier prevents duplicate counts. It is not used for cross-app tracking, targeted advertising or sale of personal information.
How information is used
We use information to operate accounts, publish requested content, synchronize bookmarks and drafts, deliver notifications, moderate abuse, answer messages, secure the service, diagnose errors and provide aggregate publication analytics. Public profile fields and approved or published content are visible to other readers according to your privacy settings.
Service providers
Hosting, database, object storage and email providers process data only to operate Factioz. Push delivery uses Expo and the Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging. Optional Google sign-in and reCAPTCHA use Google services. Google may receive technical and interaction information under its Privacy Policy and Terms.
Weather and external links
The weather widget estimates a city from the browser time zone or uses the city you enter. Our server requests public weather data from Open-Meteo without sending account cookies or precise device location. External websites, advertisements and embedded video providers have their own privacy practices.
Retention and deletion
Account data is retained while the account is active and as needed to provide the features you request. Expired authentication and recovery tokens are no longer accepted and are removed during routine maintenance. Security and operational records are retained only as long as needed for fraud prevention, reliability and legal obligations.
You can permanently delete your account from the mobile app or the account deletion page. Deletion removes your profile, publications, comments, social activity, bookmarks, notifications, active sessions, push tokens and community uploads. Limited copies can remain in encrypted backups until they are overwritten under the backup schedule.
Your choices
You can edit profile and notification preferences, disable push notifications, remove saved stories, or delete your account. You may ask for access, correction or deletion of submitted information through the contact page. We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request.
Security and international processing
Factioz uses HTTPS, restricted administrative access, revocable sessions and access controls. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.
Children
Factioz is a general-audience news service and does not knowingly collect personal information from children where parental consent is legally required. Contact us if you believe a child submitted personal information without the required authorization.
