J.R.R. Tolkien is one of the most revered fantasy authors ever. Among his several inventions were orcs, uruks, Balrogs, dwarfs, dragons, the Elvish languages known as Quenya and Sindarin, and the elves who spoke them. Legolas is almost certainly every Tolkien fan’s favorite elf and for many reasons. Setting aside his good looks, Legolas was equally quite an agile figure, a competent warrior and brilliant archer, who never missed his target nor did his quiver ever run dry. A Sindar elf, Legolas was portrayed by Orlando Bloom in the critically acclaimed The Lord of the Rings trilogy directed by Peter Jackson.
In Tolkien's original works and in Jackson's adaptation, the Elven prince of Mirkwood is first introduced at the Council of Elrond. The only known son of Thranduil (Lee Pace), King of the Woodland Realm, and grandson of Oropher, would ultimately become a member of the Fellowship with the sole purpose of destroying the One Ring. In the three parts of the trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King, Legolas was present throughout on the long, winding road from Rivendell to Mount Doom. He has gone on to become one of the most recognizable fantasy characters in history, and with several new projects bringing back some of our most beloved characters, Legolas has been immortalized.
The prince of Mirkwood is poised to have a stunning figure dedicated to him from Sideshow, per ScreenRant. The Legolas Sixth Scale Figure, which was recently announced, does not yet have any preview images to offer a sneak peek. However, should one take a look at Sideshow's current catalog of figures and collectibles, the conclusion can be quickly drawn that we are in for a treat. The Legolas Sixth Scale Figure is currently available for pre-order.
Will Legolas Feature in 'The Hunt for Gollum'?
In the years since Jackson's trilogy ended, other projects set in the same universe have emerged. In recent times, though, there has been a significant increase in Middle-Earth-based content. In under two months, Prime Video's prequel series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, is poised to return with the first four episodes of its third season on November 11. By the time we get into 2027, all eyes will turn to The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which should arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027. Directing and starring will be Andy Serkis, who reprises his role, while Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf and Elijah Wood returns as Frodo. Unfortunately, Bloom will not return as Legolas, but Pace will return to reprise his fan-favorite role as Thranduil, the Elvenking, from The Hobbit films.
