Though CNN and MS NOW were back on the White House grounds Thursday, both news outlets said their journalists were denied access to Chinese leader Xi Jinping's state dinner arrival.
Trump justified the ban in a social media post on Friday, accusing the outlets of publishing "fake news" and warning that other news organizations could face similar treatment.
President Donald Trump said on Friday he was banning the outlets from the presidential residence as punishment for distributing what he calls "fake news."
The president has already pursued legal action against other major news organisations, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and the BBC.
