Three months away from its big streaming debut, HBO's new Wizarding World keeps expanding. We can expect to see Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, and many more on Christmas Day 2026, as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone finally debuts. But time doesn't stand still at Hogwarts, and the team behind the series is already putting the pieces together for the second season, Chamber of Secrets.
Most recently, Rafe Spall was added as Arthur Weasley in Harry Potter Season 2, with Molly Hewitt-Richards joining as Moaning Myrtle and Jasper Ambrose portraying Colin Creevey. Prior to that, other important characters found their faces, as Kit Harington was added as Gilderoy Lockhart, taking over from Nicholas Hoult, who had to step back from the role due to scheduling conflicts, alongside Lenny Rush and Bonnie Hill, who will play Dobby and Ginny Weasley, respectively. But perhaps the most intriguing of these cast confirmations was the announcement of who will portray Lord Voldemort... almost.
Invasion's Billy Barratt has been added as Tom Riddle in Harry Potter Season 2, with this our first taste of the Dark Lord, with the official casting of the main villain still to be decided. Rumors have swirled for some time about who will take up the role, with most whispered candidates ruling themselves out. Whoever is cast, they will have enormous shoes to fill, with Ralph Fiennes truly turning the character into his own. Fiennes is one of the finest actors of his generation, never missing a beat in his many performances. With that in mind, you'll want to hurry, as one of his most underrated films of the past ten years is about to lose its streaming place.
'Official Secrets' Is Leaving Netflix
As of October 1, 2026, you'll no longer be able to stream the spy thriller Official Secrets on Netflix. Starring Keira Knightley in a spiritual precursor to her Black Doves performance, the film dramatizes the story of Katharine Gun, a British intelligence specialist and translator for GCHQ who turned whistleblower on the eve of the Iraq War. Knightley and Fiennes star alongside the likes of Doctor Who icon Matt Smith, Matthew Goode, Adam Bakri, and Indira Varma in the film, although in early development Harrison Ford had been cast.
