Harry Potter Returns With New Six-Part Forbidden Forest Experience in October

Harry Potter is a franchise unto itself by this point, but while we're used to seeing the stories we know and love transported onto the big — and soon to be small — screens, it's easy to forget that it all started with books. Those stories ended nearly 20 years ago, but we're always looking for an excuse to go back to Hogwarts and to go back into the Forbidden Forest, to join giant spiders, unicorns, Hippogriffs, and whatever else happens to be moving around between the trees after dark. Luckily, we've got a new six-part project coming our way.

Warner Bros. Discovery Global Entertainment and Fever have officially announced the return of Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience to New York, beginning October 16 at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown Heights. The attraction first appeared there back in 2022, but its return will introduce a new six-part chronological journey, alongside additional characters, creatures, interactive moments, and spell-casting experiences inspired by the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies.

Guests will go through the enchanted and illuminated forest and take part in some of the Wizarding World’s most memorable woodland encounters. Visitors aren't passive either, as they can interact with the environment, cast spells to illuminate parts of the forest and even attempt to conjure their own Patronus. The trail features creatures from across the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts franchises, including unicorns, Nifflers, and Hippogriffs. The new version has been redesigned as a chronological journey, effectively allowing guests to move through a story as they explore the forest.

Harry Potter Returns in 2026

The New York return arrives while the wider Wizarding World is entering another particularly busy period. HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter television series will restart the story with Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

Season 1 will adapt Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, with HBO already moving ahead on Season 2 and its adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. That season will introduce Kit Harington (Industry) as Gilderoy Lockhart, Rafe Spall (Prometheus) as Arthur Weasley, Lenny Rush (Am I Being Unreasonable?) as Dobby, and Billy Barratt (Invasion) as Tom Riddle.

Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience returns to Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown Heights, New York, on October 16, 2026.
