Hideo Kojima has been busy lately. For one, he's working on a brand-new original video game called Physint, which will be released on Xbox rather than PlayStation. But that title isn't the only thing on his plate, as the Japanese video game designer is also involved in several other projects that fans should keep an eye on.
Kojima started his career in 1986 and is best known for creating the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Since then, he has worked on several other notable games, including Death Stranding, and has produced titles such as Zone of the Enders, Lunar Knights, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, among others. More recently, he announced that he's working on Physint, an upcoming action-adventure stealth game starring Bill Skarsgård as the main playable character.
Outside of video games, Kojima revealed on his podcast, KOJI10, that he's been busy with projects in other forms of media. In the recently released Episode 36, Kojima discussed his cameo appearances in VIVIANT and Zootopia 2 and explained how he landed those roles. He later revealed that he had been approached to appear in several other projects. One was described as a "big live-action movie," while others included major anime titles and a video game. Unfortunately, he didn't reveal which projects they were. This is what he said:
"And I already shot a few other things. Director and others have asked me to. No. I can't say, but one is a big movie — live action... "... and a major anime title; I'm in two. Really big. A director I know asked me to appear in this one, too. Oh, and there's another one. There's one more. I have a connection with one of them, and I speak quite a bit in it. I can't say what it is. And I was in a game recently, too. I'll get in trouble if I say."
Hideo Kojima Is Working On Another Game Alongside 'Physint'
Physint isn't the only video game Kojima Productions is developing. OD is an upcoming horror game that Xbox will also publish. The game was first announced in 2023, with Jordan Peele, known for directing Get Out and Nope, working alongside Kojima on the project.
On the KOJI10 podcast, Kojima shared that OD is "still a mystery," but explained that the lack of information doesn't mean development hasn't begun. Instead, he wants to "release it without saying anything" and avoid revealing too much before launch. As of now, OD has no official release date, but the game aims to "create a new experience and test the limits of what players can bear in terms of fear."
