When historians look back on Anne Hathaway's career, 2026 will undoubtedly be one of the years that stands out more than others. Anne Hathaway kicked off her year back in April by starring in A24's twisted musical thriller, Mother Mary, which earned only $3 million at the box office before going on to find redemption on HBO Max. This box office disappointment wasn't foreshadowing the rest of the year, though, as she returned to the screen just one month later for the long-awaited premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2, co-starring Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt. There was some initial skepticism about the movie costing $100 million to make, but this was all proven to be a non-issue when the legacy sequel grossed nearly $700 million at the global box office, but the theatrical success for Hathaway didn't stop there.

In mid-July, Anne Hathaway reunited with Christopher Nolan for The Odyssey, the big-budget historical epic co-starring Tom Holland and Matt Damon. There were skeptics who felt that The Odyssey was in line to fail at the box office due to its bloated budget, but a $250 million production cost proved to be nothing more than a minor obstacle for the film. The Odyssey grossed over $1.7 billion at the box office, and when the film is added to VOD platforms in November, it's expected to rack up even more in total earnings. Hathaway then left The Odyssey behind to star in The End of Oak Street with Ewan McGregor, and the film grossed $120 million at the box office — this would have been more impressive were it not carrying an $85 million budget.

What's Next for Anne Hathaway?

For most actors and actresses, starring in four movies in one year would be more than enough to call it quits, but Hathaway has one more blockbuster in her before the end of the year. She's teaming up with Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett for Verity, the new film based on the novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover. Hoover has also written books that inspired other novels, like It Ends With Us, Regretting You, and Reminders of Him. Verity, which was written by Nick Antosca and directed by Michael Showalter, is set to be released in theaters in one week, on October 2. The film also stars Ismael Cruz Cordova, famed for his role Arondir in The Rings of Power, also stars in Verity.
